Universal Music Publishing Group Expands Publishing Relationship With Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Music Publishing Companies Into New World-Wide Deal, Announces New Estefan Catalogue Sampler
David Renzer, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group (“UMPG”); Eddie Fernandez , Senior Vice President, Latin America, Universal Music Publishing Group; Gloria Estefan; and Emilio Estefan, Jr. , Chairman of Estefan Enterprises, Inc. announced today the renewal and extension of UMPG’s exclusive agreement to administer the publishing interests of Foreign Imported Productions & Publishing, Inc. (“FIPP”), Estefan Music Publishing, Inc. (“EMPI”); world renowned, seven-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan; and Grammy-winning artist/writer/producer Emilio Estefan, Jr. for the world.
Under the new agreement, UMPG will now represent the extremely successful publishing entities of the Estefan’s for North America, in addition to handling all territories outside of North America.
UMPG will soon be servicing a CD sampler and e-sampler in their aggressive marketing plan to promote the Estefan’s rich catalogue, featuring hits from Latin superstars, such as, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Thalia, Jon Secada , Paulina Rubio, and Alejandro Fernandez.
Upon making the announcement Mr. Renzer commented: “Gloria and Emilio are icons who not only have created some of the most enduring hits of the past several decades, but continue to create exciting new music that will become the standards of the future. We are so proud to continue our wonderful working relationship with Gloria and Emilio and staff, and their wonderful publishing catalogues.
Mr. Estefan added: “We couldn’t be happier to extend our publishing agreement with UMPG. Their expertise in administering our catalog has proven to be extremely successful for us outside of America and now I am excited to have them represent our catalog in the US & Canada. As the music business continues to evolve I am happy to be working with a company that is always ahead of the curve.”
Mr. Fernandez further commented: “It’s a real pleasure and honor to continue our long standing relationship with the most renowned and respected Latin symbols, Emilio and Gloria Estefan; we are proud to be part of the same family.”
Through this publishing deal, which originated through UMPG’s Latin America division, UMPG will administer more than 3,000 titles including scores of hit songs recorded by a host of American and international acts. The Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan, Jr. catalogs include major hits by Gloria and Miami Sound Machine such as “Conga,” “Don’t Wanna Lose You,” “Reach,” “Anything For You,” “Words Get In The Way,” “Bad Boy,” “Mi Tierra,” “Here We Are,” “Coming Out Of The Dark,” “Always Tomorrow,” “Con Los Anos Que Me Quedan,” “Live For Loving You,” and “Cuts Both Ways,” just to name a few.
The multicultural FIPP/EMPI catalogs consist of some of the most popular English & Spanish language compositions in the world. Featuring mainstream Pop and Latin style performances and productions, the undisputed success of the catalogs is due to a host of talented songwriters who have, for over two decades, consistently delivered hit after hit. Continuing on that path of hits, Gloria Estefan will release a new album later this year, her first English Language album since 2004′s Unwrapped. The album is high energy, dance oriented, and is being co-written and co-produced by hit-maker Pharrell Williams and Estefan.
