The Caribbean Reading Club at Books & Books
Jamaica Kincaid, Earl Lovelace, V.S. Naipaul, Jean Rhys – these authors are some of the better known writers of Caribbean literature, an art form all its own. Over the next four months the Caribbean Reading Club will read, explore and discuss several Caribbean fiction authors with Dr. Keith Jardim, Assistant Professor of English and Fiction Writing at the University College of the Cayman Islands. Join us at Books & Books on Wednesday, February 10 at 8pm for an overview of what ‘is’ Caribbean literature along with a selection of titles. Following this initial meeting we will convene at Books & Books on the second Wednesday of each month at 8pm to discuss our insights and impressions of the chosen book. This is a wonderful opportunity to read or perhaps reread writers who have had a profound impact on both the Caribbean and the world. We want to take the time to look into these works with our discussions, learning from and growing with each other.
This event is free and open to the public.
