a MODERN-DAY FAIRYTALE, CASSANDRA’s ANGEL, COMES TO LIFE at the BROOKLYN CHILDREN’S MUSEUm – OCTOBER 2

GinaOttoOn Sunday, October 2, join us as we celebrate the Museum’s new Grandparent’s Circle Membership and launch award-winning author, Gina Otto, and her literacy-based Change My World Now Bus Tour (a 20-city traveling mobile book tour) featuring her new book, Cassandra’s Angel.  Committed to promoting the importance of literacy to our community through our own W.O.R.D. UP! reading series, Brooklyn Children’s Museum is also happy to highlight authors that inspire and educate youth and promote reading at an early age.     

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum stop on the Change My World Now Bus Tour will feature family-friendly highlights like:

Circles around the World (11:30am-12pm)
What is a circle and why are they so important in cultures around the world? Celebrate the opening of our new traveling exhibit, Secrets of Circles and explore how they have been used to create symbols of peace and unity. Create a beautiful Mandala to take home. Ages 5 and under

Cassandra’s Angel : book reading & signing by author Gina Otto (2:30pm)

Please join author, Gina Otto, as she reads her award-winning book, Cassandra’s Angel.  A modern-day fairytale about the stories we are given in our lives about who others think we are, and then changing those stories to become who we are meant to be.  Share this message of courage and self-assurance with your friends, family and others around you.  All Ages

Grandparent Celebration (2:30-3:30pm)
Celebrate the wonderful world of grandparents through storytelling. Decorate a special picture frame to cherish the moments you have with them! Ages 5 and under

Special live performance: Cassandra’s Angel Live! (3:00pm): Watch as this live musical concert (performed by the entire cast of characters from the book), inspire children with the message of empowerment and self confidence.  Sing along, tap your feet and enjoy the power of literacy as this popular children’s book comes alive before your very eyes. All Ages
