A MILLIONAIRE-THEMED CONFECTION TO MARK THE OCCASION!
“Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” with Emmy Award-winning host Meredith Vieira will celebrate its 1,500th episode on November 5, 2010 (check local listings at millionairetv.com). The hit game show launched in syndication in 2002 and currently is in its ninth season.
Vieira will be joined by Food Network’s Duff Goldman of “Ace of Cakes” who has whipped up a Millionaire-themed cake in honor of the special episode. “Ace of Cakes” will incorporate footage of the making of the “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” cake into one of their episodes airing this winter.
In 1,500 episodes of Millionaire, over 2,500 contestants have won more than $60-million on the show. Three contestants have walked away with Millionaire’s top prize of $1-million, including Nancy Christy, an eighth grade teacher from Tulsa, OK, who became the first woman (and only woman to-date) to win $1-million on the U.S. version of the show. Meredith Vieira has won two Daytime Emmys for her hosting duties on Millionaire (2005 and 2009) and with her first win in 2005, she became the second woman to ever win in the category.
The current season of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” is a real game-changer! From the very first question, you see more strategy, unpredictability and excitement as the order of the first ten questions and the money values attached to those questions, are both randomly shuffled. Contestants have been introduced to a new lifeline (“Jump The Question”), and the road to winning $1-million is a bit shorter this season. It’s the same great Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, with a few new twists and turns that have added even more risk, reward and fun.
